Texas Instruments TPS54202x Step-Down Converters
Texas Instruments TPS54202x Step-Down Converters are 4.5V to 30V input, 2A synchronous buck converters designed for compact, EMI-friendly DC/DC power conversion. The series includes the TPS542021 adjustable-output device and the TPS542025 fixed 5V output device, giving designers flexible options for distributed power-bus and general-purpose power designs.
The converters integrate two switching FETs, internal loop compensation, and a 5ms internal soft start to reduce external component count and PCB footprint. The TI TPS54202x Step-Down Converters also support pulse-frequency modulation for improved light-load efficiency, frequency-spread spectrum operation for EMI reduction, and peak-current mode control for ease of use.
Protection features include cycle-by-cycle current limiting, low-side MOSFET freewheeling current limiting to help prevent current runaway, hiccup mode protection during sustained overcurrent conditions, and non-latched protection for OTP, OCP, OVP, and UVLO events. The devices are available in the SOT-23-THN package, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +150°C.
